Architecturally, the Palace of Lanheses, is one of the best examples of a Minho manor house of the late 18th century. The house has remained in the family of the Counts of Almada since being built and has been preserved in its original state as far as possible whilst recognizing modern trends such as en suite bathrooms!

In the grounds, is the old Lanheses pillory which has been classified as a national monument.

It is 60 kilometres from Porto airport, now almost all of it by motorway, and in addition there are good connections to Braga, Guimaraes and other towns to the north of Porto.

The back of the house has views over the estate vineyards and across the valley of the river Lima.

Lanheses is situated midway between the old sailing port of Viana do Castelo and the market town of Ponte de Lima.

The house is especially suitable for these not having a car due to frequent buses from the nearby village.
