From the centre of the village you enter the tree covered driveway leading to this delightful palace. The word ‘paco’ indicates that, in former times, the King had spent at least one night at the house. In the grounds, is the old Lanheses pillory which has been classified as a national monument. The guest wing contains the dining room pictured here and a sitting room in addition to 4 ensuite bedrooms, one with double bed and two with twin beds and a family room. The family room can accommodate up to 5 people. It is composed by 2 connecting rooms, one with double bed and the other with twin beds where an extra bed can be placed. The village of Lanheses is at the end of the drive and has restaurants and patisseries etc. In the summer, breakfast is often served on the veranda which has views across the estate vineyards and the river Lima. The back of the house has views over the estate vineyards and across the valley of the river Lima. Lanheses is situated midway between the old sailing port of Viana do Castelo and the market town of Ponte de Lima. The house is especially suitable for these not having a car due to frequent buses from the nearby village. |
